About this role
Norham High School is seeking to appoint an exceptional English teacher that can deliver an exciting and
diverse curriculum to pupils in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This position is a permanent post that would
commence from 1 November 2026. (or sooner if possible)
The school has a track record of strong GCSE outcomes for pupils across the board, particularly in English,
and that work will be supported by the successful applicant. They will have a track record of securing
excellent progress for their pupils in both English Language and English Literature GCSEs.
As a practitioner, the successful applicant will be confident in adapting their teaching to meet the needs of
all pupils, and be aware of best practice in relation to pupils with SEND and EAL. They will be able to
inspire and motivate pupils to engage with this critical subject and foster curiosity around the concept of
world views. They will have a detailed understanding of the key literature texts taught at GCSE and be able
to deliver these in an inspiring way to our pupils to support their enjoyment of English alongside their
academic achievement. The successful candidate must be confident in delivery a broad curriculum that
covers topics including dystopian literature, gothic conventions, and topics that promote pupils developing
their own voices through their writing.
