About this role
Position OverviewThe Teacher of Economics is responsible for delivering a high-quality Economics programme within the IB Diploma Programme (DP), fostering students' academic, social and emotional development in line with the philosophy and values of Newton College. Depending on departmental needs, the successful candidate may also teach MYP Individuals & Societies and/or DP Theory of Knowledge (TOK).
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging DP Economics lessons aligned with the IB curriculum.
Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of assessment strategies.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Support students through academic guidance and pastoral care.
Supervise the Extended Essay (EE) and/or MYP Personal Project, when required.
Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to curriculum development.
Participate in school events, professional development and other duties expected of teaching staff.
Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Economics, Business, or a related field.
Teaching qualification.
Minimum of two years' teaching experience.
Experience teaching IB DP Economics is highly desirable.
Previous experience in an international school is an advantage.
Knowledge & SkillsStrong understanding of the IB Diploma Programme and inquiry-based learning.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Fluent English (native or near-native level).
