Job Purpose
The post-holder is expected to uphold and actively promote the ethos of the School. The Teacher of Drama reports to the Head of Drama and is ultimately accountable to the Headmaster. The focus of the role is to provide teaching of the highest quality and to contribute enthusiastically to the curricular and co-curricular life of the Drama Department. This will support the School in delivering an outstanding drama education and a vibrant programme of productions and performance opportunities that enable pupils to achieve their full creative potential.
General Description and Responsibilities
In addition to fulfilling teacher and tutor responsibilities, the Teacher of Drama will also undertake the following responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning Deliver high-quality, engaging Drama lessons across all ages and abilities as required.
Maintain high standards of teaching, learning and dramatic performance.
Plan and prepare lessons in line with departmental schemes of work and School expectations.
Monitor, assess and record student progress and achievement, providing effective feedback to support improvement.
Contribute to appropriate assessment, reporting and examination procedures.
Promote innovative approaches to teaching and learning that inspire creativity, confidence and a love of Drama.
Create a positive, inclusive and creative learning environment where all pupils are encouraged to participate and excel.
Curriculum and Departmental Contribution Contribute to the development and review of schemes of work, teaching resources and curriculum materials for all age groups.
Work collaboratively with the Head of Drama and departmental colleagues to maintain consistently high standards.
Support the effective organisation and care of departmental resources, costumes, props, technical equipment and performance spaces.
