Teacher of Design and Technology (0.5 FTE)

Kew House School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, ambitious and dynamic Teacher of Design and Technology. The candidate should be a hardworking professional, committed to thorough lesson planning, enthusiastic delivery and careful assessment. Design and Technology is a very important element of the school’s curriculum. The school is equipped with outstanding facilities in the form of two special areas and a large materials preparation area. Our workshop is fully equipped with a range of materials, processing equipment and a CAD/CAM room with a suite of 24 PCs, 2D Design software and industry standard software: SolidWorks. This area is equipped to a very high standard, including 3D printers, a large laser cutter, a CNC router and a sublimation printer. The department has full-time technician support. At key stage 3, the school operates a carousel system with 3-hour sessions, moved on a termly basis between Design & Technology, Food Technology and Art. We then offer GCSE Design and Technology from Year 9 onwards. Design and Technology follows the AQA specification and has a very healthy uptake at both GCSE and A Level. After-school clubs offer great scope for extension activities. This includes a popular Formula 24 club and a CAD/CAM Club.
