Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role.
The Student Participation Officer will work with a small team to identify students with attendance and punctuality issues and implement agreed interventions that improve student attendance, punctuality and behaviour issues, including throughout the day once they have arrived.
You will be responsible for ensuring systems are updated, communication is recorded and reports are published in relation to attendance and behaviour.
You will oversee the Student Lounge to ensure students are behaving appropriately and attending lessons in line with their timetable and report any issues or concerns.
You will work closely with the wider Student Experience teams to deliver a range of enrichment activities, in the Student Lounge, that engages students in an extra and co-curricular programme which supports and enhances the student experience.
Key responsibilities.
Implement the Attendance and Punctuality Policy by contacting students, parents and carers and arrange meetings as appropriate.
Provide support to students whose attendance falls below college expectations, implementing strategies to improve attendance.
Ensure all information regarding attendance and punctuality is recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
Provide reports to support external meetings, ensuring attendance and behaviour concerns are recorded accurately.
