About this role
This post is fixed term to 31st August 2027 and term time only plus 5 training days. This post will be specifically based in our Alternative Provision (AP), working in Key Stage 3.
We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Learning Support Assistants to collaborate closely with teachers in planning and delivering high-quality programmes of teaching and learning. Under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, you will undertake educational activities with individuals, groups, or whole classes.
Key duties include:
Plan, prepare, and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, groups, and whole classes.
Liaise with teaching staff to assess pupil needs and assist in the preparation, development, and implementation of Individual Development Plans.
Provide targeted support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory, or physical difficulties.
Partner with teachers, external education/health specialists, and outside agencies to develop multi-agency approaches.
We are looking for a colleague who has:
Working at or towards the competency standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
Learning Support Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
Awareness of policy, procedures, and legislation relating to child protection, health and safety, and the SEND Code of Practice.
Ability to empathise with the needs of children and in particular able to establish positive relationships with pupils.
Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies.
