About this role
We are looking for an experienced SENCO with a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs to join our friendly and supportive team.
New Forest School is an independent school with sites in Fawley, Dibden, Totton & Romsey with an excellent reputation for working with vulnerable students with ASD, attachment difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
Our students benefit from small class/group sizes. High staff ratios allow us to provide highly bespoke and individualised educational provision to our students.
We have exciting plans in place to gradually grow our provision and this is a fantastic opportunity for the SENDCO role to grow with the school
Working closely with the head teacher and the staff team, you'll use your leadership skills to manage SEN provision and to provide support to other teachers. Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering interventions with pupils in the classroom and implementing the school strategy.
Initially, there would be the need to undertake some classroom teaching alongside the SENDCO role as the school gradually grows, however it is anticipated that the SENDCO role would become full time as the school nears its planned capacity. The ability to teach science or maths would be an advantage.
THE COMPANY IS UNABLE TO SPONSOR EMPLOYMENT OF INTERNATIONAL WORKERS IN THIS ROLE. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF YOUR RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK.
Core requirements:
Help to develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEN strategy and policy.
Carry out assessments of pupils with SEN to identify needs and monitor progress - including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents.
Work with classroom teachers, the school leadership team, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans.
Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meeti
