Senior Science Technician

As our new Senior Science Technician, you'll have the exciting opportunity to further develop your expertise, taking on greater responsibility within a supportive, close-knit Science department. You'll have the backing of experienced Heads of Science alongside you, and a friendly team of technicians and twelve teaching staff across Biology, Chemistry and Physics to work with. Day to day, you'll prepare, set out and clear away equipment for lessons and practical examinations, trial experiments alongside teaching staff, and support in the classroom with equipment and demonstrations. You'll help coordinate practical lessons across Year 7 and 8, from IGCSE core practicals through to A Level investigations, keeping stock and the prep room well organised and ensuring safety procedures are followed throughout. There's also a real opportunity to shape the wider life of the department. Our Science team runs a rich variety of clubs and enrichment activities, from Dissection Club and Chemistry Masterclass to the UK Space Design Competition and Arkwright Engineering Scholarships. About you We're looking for someone who is bright, enthusiastic and highly organised, with a genuine passion for supporting hands-on Science teaching across a busy, thriving department. You'll be warm and approachable, care about the wellbeing of the young people you work with, and be comfortable supporting and guiding others as part of a friendly team. Ideally, you'll have experience working in a laboratory environment, have studied Science at least to A Level, and have good IT skills.
