About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional, resilient and compassionate professional to join Deyes High School as our Senior Attendance Lead. This is a key leadership role within our pastoral and safeguarding structure, responsible for leading attendance strategy, managing the attendance team and ensuring every student has the best possible opportunity to succeed through regular school attendance.

Working closely with senior leaders, families and external agencies, you will play a vital role in reducing persistent and severe absence, delivering targeted interventions and creating a culture where attendance is valued and supported across the whole school.

About the Role

As Senior Attendance Lead, you will:

  • Lead and manage the school's Attendance Team.
  • Develop and implement attendance improvement strategies using an inclusive attendance approach.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on attendance data to drive improvement.
  • Work proactively with students, families and external agencies to improve attendance outcomes.
  • Conduct home visits and attendance meetings where required.
  • Support the school's safeguarding responsibilities and statutory attendance duties.
  • Lead interventions for key groups, including disadvantaged students, SEND learners and vulnerable pupils.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Has a strong understanding of attendance legislation, procedures and best practice.
  • Possesses excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive, supportive relationships with students, families and staff.
  • Is skilled in analysing data and identifying effective interventions.
  • Is passionate about improving life chances for young people.
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle with business insurance for work-related travel, including home visits and meetings with external agencies.
