UTC Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our dedicated team. This is a key role within the UTC responsible for ensuring that all students with additional needs receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
The successful candidate will:
Lead and manage the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create inclusive learning environments.
Teach up to 10 hours per week in your specialist subject area.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with SEND.
Coordinate and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching strategies.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and support.
Contribute to whole-school improvement and safeguarding practices.
Person Specification
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in teaching.
National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).
Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
