About this role

Sandown School is seeking to appoint a committed and passionate Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) to lead and develop our SEND provision and ensure every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

Salary:                      MPS + SEN Allowance

Hours:                       Part-time, 3-4 days per week

Contract:                   Permanent

Start Date:                1st January 2027

Working closely with the Headteacher, staff, parents and external agencies, you will provide strategic leadership and day-to-day coordination of SEND provision across the school, promoting inclusion and high-quality outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and develop the school’s SEND strategy and provision
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of SEND support, including the SEND register and provision mapping
  • Provide guidance to staff on effective teaching and intervention strategies
  • Work collaboratively with families, the local authority and external professionals
  • Monitor pupil progress and use assessment data to inform provision
  • Lead intervention programmes and support EHCP reviews and transitions
  • Manage and develop staff working within SEND provision

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Has experience of supporting pupils with SEND and working at whole-school level
  • Can analyse data to improve outcomes and provision
  • Is an excellent communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Holds the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO) or is willing to complete it within three years of appointment
