SEN Teaching Assistant

The roleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will help students engage with education, develop their independence and make progress towards their individual outcomes. Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with students. Support students during one-to-one and small-group learning. Help tutors and mentors deliver engaging and differentiated activities. Support students' emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour. Encourage independence, confidence and participation. Support students at our centre and during community-based activities. Assist with Functional Skills, life skills and practical learning. Follow individual plans, risk assessments and agreed support strategies. Support safe transport and transitions where required. Accurately record attendance, progress, behaviour, safeguarding concerns and incidents. Follow Wings 4 Growth's safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety procedures. Work collaboratively with tutors, mentors, managers, families and other professionals. Undertake training and contribute to staff meetings and supervision. Respond flexibly to the changing needs of students and the provision. The role may involve supporting students with a wide range of needs. Duties and working locations may vary according to student timetables and individual requirements. Skills and qualificationsEssentialGCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4, Level 2 or above, or equivalent qualifications. Experience or a good understanding of supporting children and young people with SEN. An understanding of safeguarding and child protection. A calm, patient and student-centred approach. The ability to build appropriate professional relationships. Good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to keep clear and accurate records. Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A willingness to undertake relevant training. The ability to travel between our centre, community venues and ou
