Self-employed Visiting Music Teacher - Singing

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced teacher of singing to join an outstanding team of visiting music teachers supporting our thriving Music department, from September 2026. This position is offered on a self-employed basis via a contract of services. The successful candidate will teach one-to-one vocal lessons to pupils in the Senior School, from Year 9 to Year 13. There is currently approximately one day of teaching required, on a self-employed basis. To be successful in this role you will have relevant qualifications, coupled with a genuine passion for teaching children, as well as excellent organisation and communication skills. The successful candidate will have a qualification in performance as a vocalist to at least degree level or hold a BA or equivalent degree in academic music. A teaching qualification is also desirable. Five full-time teachers run a vibrant programme of academic and co-curricular study, and specific provision for singers includes a Chapel Choir which performs in services, concerts, in external venues in the local area and on tour to Bath and Oxford; Taunton School Chorus – a large un-auditioned choir performing oratorios with orchestra as well as other repertoire; an Advanced Vocal Ensemble, the ‘Tauntones’ (boys’ choir), and a Musical Theatre Club.
