Secondary School Counsellor
Capital School Bahrain is seeking to appoint an experienced, compassionate, and student-centred Secondary School Counsellor to join our growing pastoral team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the emotional wellbeing, mental health, and personal development of students across the secondary phase.
The School Counsellor will work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies to provide a high-quality counselling and wellbeing service that supports students in overcoming emotional, behavioural, social, and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment where students are able to thrive both academically and personally.
The role requires a professional who is approachable, empathetic, proactive, and committed to safeguarding and student welfare, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Providing confidential one-to-one counselling support for students experiencing emotional, social, behavioural, or mental health difficulties
• Supporting students with anxiety, stress management, self-esteem, friendship issues, emotional regulation, and personal challenges
• Delivering targeted interventions and wellbeing support programmes for individuals and small groups
• Promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing throughout the secondary school community
• Working closely with pastoral leaders, teachers, and senior leadership to identify and support students requiring additional care
• Maintaining accurate, confidential, and professional records in accordance with safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
• Supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with school policies and international best practice
