About this role
Secondary Mathematics Teacher
Summary
At BFIS, we want students who can reason through complex problems. The Mathematics Teacher delivers a concept-based, inquiry-driven curriculum aligned with our Common Core Mathematics Standards, taught within the IB MYP framework, and teaches the IB-prescribed curriculum for those assigned to Diploma Programme math courses.
BFIS teachers are collaborative and reflective. They make student thinking visible, build lessons around problem-solving and productive struggle rather than pace, and design experiences that work for a diverse student body, including bilingual and multilingual learners and students with learning enrichment needs. Teaching here is grounded in research-based practice, with real attention to depth over breadth and to students developing confidence and a genuine sense of themselves as capable mathematicians.
