Secondary Foundation Programme Science and English Language Teacher (Grades 7–9)

Works collaboratively with: Foundation Programme Teachers, Secondary School Leadership Team, ELL Department, Learning Support Team, MYP Coordinators, Admissions Team
The Secondary Foundation Programme (SFP) is a sheltered immersion English programme designed for students in Grades 7–9 who require additional language support before entering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Through a combination of intensive English instruction and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) subjects, students develop the academic language, literacy, and learning skills needed to successfully access the MYP curriculum and thrive in an English-medium international school environment.
Key Accountabilities:
To deliver high-quality Science and English language instruction within the Secondary Foundation Programme (Grades 7–9). The teacher will support multilingual learners, typically ranging from CEFR A1 to B1 proficiency levels, through a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach that develops both academic English and subject knowledge. The role focuses on preparing students for successful transition into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) by developing the language, literacy, and learning skills required to access mainstream classes.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Strong understanding of second language acquisition and language development for middle years learners.
• Strong understanding of MYP secondary Science curriculum and inquiry-based learning.
• Experience teaching students across a range of English proficiency levels from CEFR A1 to B1.
• Strong understanding of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology.
• Knowledge of WIDA and MAP Growth assessments and the ability to use assessment data to inform instruc
