Wycombe Abbey seeks a proactive and organised Science Technician to support the efficient and smooth running of the Science Department. This varied and practical role ensures that laboratories are well‑prepared, safe and fully equipped, enabling pupils and staff to deliver high‑quality teaching and learning.
Reports to: Senior Lab Technician and Head of Science.
Contract: This is a part‑time, permanent contract. The first three months will be a probationary period.
Hours of Work: 21 hours per week during term time, plus two weeks per annum during school holidays. The working pattern will be agreed with the Senior Lab Technician.
Holiday: Included within school holidays, in line with the term‑time nature of the role.
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting practical teaching across the department. Responsibilities include preparing and setting up equipment and materials for lessons, maintaining laboratory resources, managing stock and ordering supplies, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and supporting practical examinations. You will also be responsible for maintaining clean, organised and safe working environments, liaising with teaching staff and assisting with departmental activities such as science clubs and events.
