Science Technician

Post: Science Technician Location: Fulford School Salary: Grade 5 (£26,748 – £27,935) Actual Annual Salary: £23,044 - £24,067 – Based on 37 hours per week, Term time only Contract: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week Start date: 7th September 2026 We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Science Technician. Responsibilities: · Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for scientific experiments and demonstrations. · Maintain and organize laboratory inventory, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and materials. · Assist science teachers and researchers in conducting experiments, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed. · Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with safety protocols and regulations. · Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of laboratory facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive working environment. · Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment. · Document experimental procedures and results accurately for future reference. Requirements: · A genuine passion for science · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain an orderly and well-stocked laboratory. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, researchers, and fellow technicians. · The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new techniques and technologies. · Minimum qualifications of 5 GCSE’s or the equivalent including maths, English and ideally science. · IT skills, including word, excel, publisher and email · Previous experience as a science technician or working in a laboratory setting is desirable but not essential.
