Science Technician

Knutsford Academy are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Science Technician with a strong chemistry background to join our dedicated and supportive Science Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large, well-resourced department that serves students across two sites.  About the Role You will be part of a skilled team of three technicians, working collaboratively to support the delivery of engaging and effective science lessons from Year 7 through to Year 13. The role involves supporting practical work across all key stages, with a particular emphasis on chemistry.  The school operates across two sites:  Westfield Drive (Years 7 & 8) Bexton Road (Years 9–13) The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across both locations as required.  Key Responsibilities: Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for practical lessons Providing specialist support for chemistry experiments, including preparation of reagents and solutions Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations Maintaining laboratory equipment and resources in good working order Assisting with stock control, ordering, and organisation of resources Supporting teachers and students during practical activities where appropriate Promoting and maintaining a high standard of health and safety within the laboratories The Ideal Candidate Has a strong background or qualification in Chemistry  Is organised, methodical, and able to manage a varied workload Has excellent teamwork and communication skills Demonstrates a good understanding of laboratory safety procedures Is flexible and willing to work across two school sites Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable but not essential What We Offer A welcoming and supportive Science Department Opportunities for professional development and training Well-equipped laboratories and resources A colla
