About this role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join our fantastic team at Chorlton High School. This is a permanent part-time post working 3 days, Wednesday-Friday 08:00-15:30, 21 hours per week, term time only plus 2 weeks. The starting salary is £13,541 pro-rata salary and the full time equivalent is £25,583 (Grade 3). We’re looking for: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our creative team on a part-time basis. Working under the direction of teaching and senior staff, the successful candidate will provide high-quality technical support to the department, helping to create an inspiring, safe, and well-resourced learning environment for our students. This role plays a key part in supporting students to become creative, confident, and successful learners, while contributing positively to the wider life and ethos of the school. Main purpose of the job: To work collaboratively with teaching and associate staff to support students in becoming creative, happy, and successful learners. Under the direction of senior staff, the postholder will provide technical support within the Science Department, including the preparation, maintenance, and safe use of resources and equipment, making a positive contribution to the effective delivery of the curriculum and the wider work of the school. Key responsibilities will include: Support pupils in accessing learning activities under the guidance of the teacher and provide appropriate feedback on progress and achievement where required. Prepare, maintain, and organise science rooms to ensure a purposeful, orderly, and productive working environment. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and safe use of specialist science equipment, tools, and materials. Provide practical support to teaching staff by responding efficiently to requests and maintaining accurate records, data, and information.
