School Caretaker

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to join our committed and enthusiastic team. This is a key role within the school, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming environment for all pupils, staff, and visitors. Ravenswood is an all-age Special School in Nailsea, providing education and support for pupils with complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, communication difficulties, and Autism. Community values and partnership are at the heart of everything we do. Key Responsibilities: Ensure the school premises and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose. Carry out a range of site duties including minor repairs, general maintenance, and grounds upkeep. Ensure all routine Health & Safety checks and inspections are completed and recorded in a timely manner. Act as the responsible person for asbestos and legionella compliance. Be available for emergency call-outs, ideally within 30 minutes travel time to the school. The ideal candidate will: Have a good range of practical DIY and site maintenance skills. Be highly organised, proactive and take pride in their work. Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with external contractors and school staff. Demonstrate a clear understanding of site safety, safeguarding, and compliance responsibilities. Be flexible and committed to the ethos and values of Ravenswood School.
