Are you a strategic financial leader looking to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an exceptional Finance and Business Manager to spearhead our school’s financial control, human resources, and administrative services.
This is a pivotal senior role reporting directly to the Headteacher. You will take ownership of the school’s financial and business operations, manage a talented team of middle managers, and work closely with Governors to ensure resources are optimised to deliver the highest quality education provision.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Operations: Lead budget setting, payroll, internal audits, management accounts, and the accurate submission of statutory DfE financial returns.
Line Management: Directly line manage and develop 3 key middle managers (Finance, HR, and Admin), overseeing a wider team of support staff.
Human Resources & Cover: Oversee the HR function - staff recruitment, retention, absence management, and the daily deployment of teaching and non-teaching cover.
Governance & Leadership: Present comprehensive financial reports, risk analysis, and personnel updates to Governor Committees and school leadership.
Joint Strategy & Commerciality: Partner with the school Operations Manager on joint procurement, policy creation, income generation (e.g., lettings and alumni), and high-value funding bids (such as CIF grants).
