About this role
Duties & Responsibilities:
Line managed by the Safeguarding Manager, the postholder will provide essential operational
safeguarding support. The role will support day to day safeguarding activity, including triaging
concerns, receiving and responding to calls and disclosures, providing wellbeing support,
preparing reports, attending meetings, and supporting interventions. The postholder will also
maintain accurate safeguarding records and support effective information sharing with internal
and external partners. This will ensure timely, proportionate responses to concerns and
consistent, high-quality support for students.
Role-specific responsibilities:
Be a first point of contact for Safeguarding at the College.
Triage students with potential safeguarding needs to gather information and signpost
to appropriate support or escalate to Safeguarding Manager/DDSL/DSL if appropriate.
This will include assessment of risk, to ensure urgent needs are dealt with in a timely
manner.
Undertake DSL training and attend additional training sessions as required for the role.
Gather accurate and relevant information for referrals.
Update CPOMS and Cedar, in line with college processes and protocols, in a timely
and accurate manner.
Monitor students attendance where there is a safeguarding need
Communicate to students, staff members and potentially parents’ decisions and next
steps in a clear, accessible and helpful manner, by phone and/or in writing.
Respond to requests for support and information (calls/emails/letters) from
parents/carers and professionals.
Attend regular meetings in respect of individual students and all safeguarding matters
as required.
Keep and maintain clear records of information gathered, next steps and decisions
made.
Build a strong understanding of available services in the Kirklees and the surrounding
area.
Provide administrative support for cross college Safeguarding displays and information
provision.
