Safeguarding Officer

Salary 43,680:00 - 49,056:00 The Safeguarding Officer will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school including online safety and understanding the filtering and monitoring systems in place, with the importance of full knowledge working with CPOMS in a competent way, along with appropriate MIS (Management Information System). Refer cases to the Police where a crime may have been committed. Lead the school's safeguarding case management, ensuring referrals are timely, appropriate and compliant with statutory guidance. Liaise effectively with Children's Social Care, Health professionals, CAMHS, Early Help, Youth Justice Services, Housing Services, the Police and other relevant agencies to ensure coordinated support and positive outcomes for children and families. Maintain accurate, confidential and contemporaneous safeguarding records, referrals, actions and outcomes in accordance with statutory guidance, school procedures and data protection legislation. Provide safeguarding advice, guidance and support to staff throughout the referral process, ensuring confidence and compliance with statutory procedures. Work strategically with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteachers to identify emerging safeguarding risks, evaluate safeguarding practice and develop effective safeguarding systems across the school. Inform the headteacher of safeguarding issues, especially ongoing enquiries under section 47 of the Children Act 1989 and police investigations, and the requirement for pupils to have an appropriate adult.
