Somerford Community Primary School is looking for an experienced teacher of SEN to lead our resourced provision for children with an Autistic profile and associated Social Communication needs from September 2026. This is an opportunity to help implement and develop our inclusive vision to further support children within our community.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled teacher with experience of teaching SEN pupils to join our team, who is able to provide a nuturing and inclusive approach to learning. The role:
Lead the Resource Base on a day-to-day basis and work with the SENCO to develop its ethos and direction
Teach and lead a class of up to 8 pupils, supported by up to two teaching assistants per class
Develop and deliver a creative, adaptive curriculum and therapeutic strategies to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing
Link with class teachers in the main school to help children attending the provision access their link mainstream class up to 50% of the time
Assess and monitor pupil progress, designing individualised learning plans and managing EHCPs for the base
Work closely with the SENCo, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child
Mentor and line-manage TAs, supporting their ongoing development
Play a lead role in shaping the new provision, including its routines, resources, and systems
Engage with parents and carers to build strong, supportive relationships
