About this role
We are seeking an exceptional, highly experienced Maths specialist to work with a family on a residential basis, primarily based in Seattle with regular periods of international travel, including stays in Central Asia. The student typically attends school, aside from holidays and periods of travel, tuition will be limited to after school and occasional weekends.
The StudentThe student is 11 years old, is academically capable and currently performing in line with his peers but is not yet at the level required for highly competitive 13+ entrance examinations, including Eton-level entry. He is bright, highly engaged and picks up concepts quickly when well supported. His preparation will need to focus on raising attainment, strengthening exam technique and ensuring he is fully prepared for selective school entry.
The RoleThis is a highly involved, residential position where the tutor will take responsibility for all aspects of the student’s Maths learning, as well as playing a key role in his wider development.
The successful tutor will:Take responsibility for the student’s Maths led programme.
Ensure the student’s level reaches and extends beyond the required level for competitive 13+ entrance examinations, including Eton-level entry.
Be autonomous and a self-starter. The ability to use time effectively is crucial.
Be able to provide the full suite of resources necessary for teaching.
Provide additional light academic support for two younger siblings (ages 7 and 4).
Tutor ProfileThe ideal tutor will have a Mathematics degree (with a strong preference for a qualified teacher with PGCE/QTS and school teaching experience) and will have specific experience preparing students for competitive entrance exams.
