Are you passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated and caring House Parent to provide outstanding pastoral care and create a warm, safe, and supportive boarding environment where students can flourish.
As a key member of our boarding community, you will take responsibility for the pastoral care, safeguarding, health, safety, and wellbeing of our boarders, ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and able to reach their full potential. Acting in loco parentis, you will provide guidance, encouragement, and stability, helping students develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of belonging.
You will play a central role in creating a structured and nurturing house environment, where students feel at home and where their individual needs are understood and supported. Working within the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools, you will help ensure the highest standards of care, protection, and welfare for all boarders.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding and Child Protection (NMS 11–16)
Implement and adhere to all school safeguarding and child protection policies in line with statutory guidance (including Keeping Children Safe in Education).
Maintain vigilance at all times, ensuring students are safeguarded from harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Report and record all safeguarding concerns promptly and in accordance with school procedures.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and model safe working practice.
Ensure students understand how to raise concerns and access support.
Boarders’ Welfare and Pastoral Care (NMS 2–4)
Provide a high standard of individualised pastoral care, ensuring each student’s needs are known, monitored, and supported.
Promote boarders’ physical and emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, and independence.
Ensure students are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness at all times.
