This is a truly exciting opportunity to join the staff at one of the most inspiring prep schools in the country. Yes, our 11th century manor house on the banks of the River Arun with stunning views of Amberley Castle and the South Downs makes for a wonderful working environment, but 'DH', as we are known, is much more than this. Visitors routinely comment on the warm, friendly atmosphere; this reflects the culture of the school, one that fosters confidence but not arrogance in the children. We are ambitious for them, but DH is more of a ‘greenhouse’ than a ‘hothouse’. As a recent Tatler review identified: “this is a school that really does empower.” We are seeking an outstanding Resident Matron to join our boarding team from January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of boarding at Dorset House as we move towards full boarding in September 2028. We are looking for an energetic, proactive, and caring individual who will create a warm 'home from home' environment for pupils in Years 5-8, while delivering an engaging programme of evening and weekend activities that enhances pupil experience and supports boarding recruitment. The successful candidate will combine excellent pastoral instincts with a clear understanding of boarding standards and a genuine enthusiasm for developing a vibrant and aspirational boarding culture.
