About this role

Salary: £48,041 - £50,941 per annum

Cardiff and Vale College is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) Investment Zone Programme, a high-profile £4.12 million funded initiative designed to support skills development and economic growth across South East Wales.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a flagship regional programme, working collaboratively with industry leaders, Higher Education and Further Education partners, employers and funding bodies to develop innovative skills solutions that respond to current and future workforce needs.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Operations & Projects, you will lead the mobilisation, delivery and monitoring of the programme, ensuring project objectives, budgets and funding requirements are achieved. You'll work closely with curriculum, commercial and project teams across the College and partner organisations to maximise impact and deliver lasting benefits for learners, employers and the wider regional economy.

This role is for you if you enjoy building partnerships, leading complex projects and turning strategic ambitions into tangible outcomes that make a difference to learners, employers and communities.
Responsibilities include:
  • Leading and managing the delivery of the CCR Investment Zone Programme, ensuring key milestones, objectives and funding requirements are achieved.
  • Working with industry experts and education partners to co-design innovative skills interventions that meet employer needs.
  • Managing relationships with Higher Education, Further Education and industry partners across the region.
  • Monitoring project performance, risks, budgets and compliance requirements and reporting progress to stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • Supporting learner recruitment activities alongside Business Development, Marketing and Student Services teams.
  • Leading a small project team and coordinating delivery across multiple partners and workstreams.
  • Evaluating project outcomes and identifying opportunities for future investment and sustainable delivery.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in project management, partnership working and stakeholder engagement, ideally within a government-funded programme environment. You will possess excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills, alongside a strong understanding of Welsh Government priorities, labour market intelligence and skills development. A degree-level qualification together with a recognised project management qualification is essential.

In return, Cardiff and Vale College offers an excellent benefits package including membership of a generous pension scheme, a cash health plan, Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work scheme, access to the Headspace app and a range of employee discounts through Reward Gateway.

Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role.

Applications are to be made using the Cardiff and Vale College application form only. The College welcomes applications in Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English. If you are invited to interview, please let us know if you wish to participate in the interview and assessment process through the medium of Welsh.
