This is about being the steady hand, the encouraging smile, and the person a young learner trusts to guide them through the good days (and the tougher ones too). What you'll be doing As a Pupil Support Worker, you'll work side-by-side with teachers and pupils to build a calm, nurturing, and positive classroom environment where students can thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. Provide individual and small group support in lessons across a range of subjects Help implement tailored educational programmes and behaviour plans Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, encouraging positive relationships and self-belief Prepare learning materials and resources to bring lessons to life Accompany pupils and staff on educational visits and enrichment activities Occasionally support with transporting pupils (e.g. after detentions or school trips) Keep clear records of student progress and wellbeing, contributing to a holistic picture of each learner What you will bring Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) Has a calm, patient and caring approach—especially in challenging moments Can build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff alike Has experience working with secondary-age pupils (ideal but not essential) Can work as part of a tea
