Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role.
There is x2 vacancies,
One full time, permanent and term time only basis.
One full-time fixed term and term-time only basis (until May 2027 in the first instance)
The Personal Development Tutor will deliver tailored, impactful support that prepares students for future learning, employment and independent living. The role includes delivering timetabled CORE sessions covering British values, safeguarding, welfare, careers education, mental and physical health, citizenship, financial literacy and online safety.
The postholder will work closely with internal teams and external agencies to deliver high‑quality workshops, provide targeted support for students facing barriers to learning, and ensure timely interventions are in place to support attendance, behaviour and progression.
Key responsibilities.
Work closely with Personal Development Co‑ordinators to support students at risk of falling behind attendance expectations and ensure timely interventions.
Collaborate with Course Tutors to support sessions and arrange meetings with students and/or parents regarding attendance and behaviour.
Hold regular 1‑1s with students, particularly those with risk indicators, to agree actions and targets that support retention and achievement.
Organise and deliver the CORE programme and related workshops.
Ensure students’ pastoral needs are met and make appropriate referrals to internal suppo
