Peripatetic Music Tutor (Lower Brass)

Would you like the opportunity to work as part of a team of highly experienced and ambitious colleagues? We are looking for an outstanding teacher to join our Music Department from September 2026. The department believes firmly in the power of a musical education. In this role, you will be required to teach primarily trombone in a one-to-one setting, but you will also be able to teach other instruments in the lower brass family where there is a demand for lessons. You would also be required to support the department at concerts and, depending on your availability, ensemble rehearsals during the school day. You will join a team of 23 other peripatetic staff who are supported by an administrator, who will deal with timetables and payment. There are 31 weeks of lessons scheduled in the academic year (11 in the autumn term, 10 in the spring term, and 10 in the summer term). To be successful, you will have: A Music degree/diploma or relevant experience Experience of teaching a wide variety of musical backgrounds and abilities, from beginner players to Grade 8 standard and beyond Experience of preparing students for examinations A good knowledge of lower brass technique A desire to work as part of an enthusiastic team and be actively involved in the wider musical life of the school You will teach one day per week (5 hours a week) during term time.
