The school:
Hidelow Grange School is a small Independent Special School based in Acton Beauchamp, Herefordshire. Our school provides specialist education to boys aged 11 to 18 years who have social, emotional and mental health needs.
With 7 students on roll and capacity of up to 20, our school offers a unique opportunity to shape provision for some of our most vulnerable learners. We pride ourselves on our integrated therapeutic ethos, holistic development, and unwavering focus on safeguarding.
Main Purpose of the Role:
Lead, develop and deliver an exciting, high-quality Outdoor Education and PE programme across the school, ensuring all pupils have access to a broad range of physical, adventurous and personal development activities.
Work with a diverse range of learners with SEMH and trauma-informed needs, using a slow, steady and relationship-centred approach to engage pupils in physical activity and personal challenge.
Lead, develop and deliver the PSHE curriculum across the school, building on the school's existing Jigsaw scheme, ensuring lessons are engaging, trauma-informed and meaningful for all learners.
Teach additional subjects across the curriculum as required, contributing to a flexible and collaborative whole-school teaching model.
What we’re looking for:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable).
Relevant NGB instructor or coaching qualifications in outdoor/adventurous activities (e.g. RYA, British Canoeing, Archery GB, Mountain Leader, or equivalent) (essential).
Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition Supervisor or Leader qualification (desirable).
First Aid at Work or outdoor-specific first aid qualification (e.g. Rescue and Emergency Care) (essential).
Open Water Lifeguard or equivalent water safety qualification (desirable).
Full, clean driving licence (desirable).
E
