The College is looking to appoint a Pathways Job Coach to work with learners who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to support them in work placements as part of a supported internships programme. Supported internships are a structured, work-based study programme for 16 to 24-year-olds with SEND, who have an education, health and care plan. The core aim of a supported internship study programme is a substantial work placement, facilitated by the support of an expert job coach. The internships provide the opportunity for young people to achieve sustained, paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace.
The postholder will actively support young people aged 16-19 who are looking for employment, and provide them with job search skills, support within workplace rotations, training and support in the classroom, and experience to facilitate their achievement of identified goals. You will continually assess and collaborate with each young person to create an adaptable, personalised vocational profile and individual learning plan.
Additionally, this role involves developing partnerships with local employers to identify employment opportunities for learners, provide training and coaching to partner businesses and actively promote the benefits of employing people with SEND, assist with completion of Route Assessments for Travel Training, and support young people to learn how to travel independently.
