About this role
The New School is seeking a Pastoral Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for a fixed term post. The successful candidate plays a key role in shaping a culture where young people are seen, heard, and supported to grow through trust, connection, and accountability. It is suited to someone who believes schools should be places of belonging, who understands behaviour as communication, and who values walking alongside young people with curiosity and care. The role sits within a team that holds strong, non-punitive values and works to challenge the status quo – rooted in the belief that young people flourish when their needs are understood and their voices respected. It is a role for someone looking to deepen their own practice in a values-led, relational, and restorative setting.
The school was formed in 2020 and our mission is to positively impact UK education. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where young people can thrive. We believe in embracing principles that prioritise the well-being and development of our students and staff and as an attachment and trauma-informed school, we are committed to social justice and fostering a safe space for growth.
Compensation for this position aligns with our pay-rates, complemented by an array of invaluable perks. These include our supportive team ethos, active participation in shaping organisational policies through our sociocratic framework, and the flexibility of enjoying five paid holidays during term time. Additional benefits are complimentary lunches and access to an employees assistance scheme for health and wellbeing.
