About this role

Part-time Teacher of Politics (Required for January 2027 or sooner) St Edmund’s College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Part-time Teacher of Politics to join our successful History and Politics Department. This role would suit either an Early Career Teacher or an experienced teacher who is passionate about Politics and committed to delivering engaging, high-quality teaching in the Sixth Form. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge, the ability to motivate pupils, and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the College. The successful candidate will: • Teach approximately 12 lessons of Politics per fortnight across 2 days each week. • Deliver engaging and challenging Politics lessons in the Sixth Form. • Embrace and apply the College’s High-Performance Learning (HPL) philosophy across all aspects of teaching and learning. • Ensure all pupils experience a rigorous and well-scaffolded learning journey tailored to their needs. • Use assessment effectively as an integral part of everyday teaching and maintain accurate records of pupil progress and achievement. • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental resources. • Maintain high standards of pupil behaviour, discipline, and classroom presentation. • Support and contribute to the department’s co-curricular and enrichment programme. • Fulfil the professional expectations outlined in the College’s Academic Handbook. The Ideal Candidate Will Have • A degree in Politics or a related subject. • The ability to teach Politics confidently at Sixth Form level. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. • A passion for inspiring young people and fostering academic curiosity. The post will involve close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults.
