About this role
St. Olave’s Grammar School
Teacher of Chemistry
Part-time or Full-time, fixed term appointment for one term only
Start: August 2026
Outer London remuneration
St. Olave’s Grammar School is a forward-looking selective Church of England school where our naturally able and inquisitive pupils are a delight to teach. The school was judged Outstanding in all areas in November 2024. We place a strong emphasis on the wellbeing, dignity and morale of both staff and pupils, investing actively in high‑quality professional development because we firmly believe that people shape our environment.
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational graduate to join us as a part-time or full-time Teacher of Chemistry with the opportunity to teach very capable students in this outstanding department in one of the country’s top Grammar Schools. This is a fixed term appointment for the Autumn Term 2026 only. Chemistry is one of the most popular choices for A-Level students, which leads to a large amount of A-Level teaching within the Department. Most of the students will move onto Russell Group Universities to read a variety of subjects, including Medicine, Natural Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Engineering.
The post would suit either an experienced teacher or an ECT, for whom excellent support is available. The school runs a highly successful induction programme for all ECTs, with a dedicated mentor working under the direction of the Professional Studies Tutor. The person appointed should possess the talent, enthusiasm and imagination to play an active role in the life of the school, contributing to excellence in the classroom and to the wider co‑curricular life of our community, where happiness and success are key values.
