About this role
Responsibility
The Orchestra Director leads and builds the school’s orchestra program, exercising creative agency and autonomy to shape its vision and elevate artistic standards.
Working in partnership with the Deputy Head of School and the Co-Curricular team, the Director designs the annual calendar, balancing classroom instruction with internal showcases and external performances.
As lead teacher and conductor, the Director selects and adapts repertoire aligned with student skill levels and school values, creating specialized arrangements and sheet music as needed. The Director manages all instructional operations—including sectionals, room bookings, and instrument upkeep—while mentoring peripatetic teachers and clinicians to ensure consistent instructional quality.
The Director actively recruits students to expand program participation, manages external performance logistics with Executive Leadership Team approval, and collaborates with marketing to promote events and student achievements. Clear communication with parents and prompt completion of administrative duties—such as attendance tracking and policy compliance—round out the role.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Music)
Knowledge about composing and arrangement
Comprehensive knowledge about music and orchestra
Ability to coordinate and manage projects
Able to work under pressure and willing to deal with students, parents and concerned staff
