About this role

Wells Cathedral School is seeking an exceptional administrator to join one of the UK's leading specialist music schools. This is a pivotal role within our thriving Music and Expressive Arts Department, providing the organisational expertise that underpins an extensive programme of instrumental and vocal tuition, rehearsals, performances and events. Working closely with the Deputy Director (Music), you will take responsibility for the annual and ongoing timetabling of instrumental and vocal lessons for a large team of Visiting Music Staff, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of this complex and dynamic area of school life. You will also provide high-quality administrative, financial and organisational support to staff, pupils and parents, acting as a key point of contact across the department. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working with systems and logistics, has exceptional organisational skills and thrives in a busy environment where accuracy, initiative and excellent communication are essential. Previous administrative experience, strong IT skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are key. Experience of timetabling or working within an educational environment would be advantageous but is not essential. This is a rare opportunity to become part of a collaborative, ambitious team delivering an internationally recognised music programme at the heart of one of the country's most distinctive schools. Contract/hours: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week | 8.30 am – 4.30 pm weekdays), term time plus 3 weeks (1 week for INSET and 2 weeks to include collation of termly information and late August, subject to the preparation and changes to timetabling). For further details, please download an application pack from our website via the Apply button. Closing date: Noon on Saturday 25 July 2026. Interviews are scheduled to take place in the week commencing Monday 27 July 2026. Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing
