About this role
As a founding Mandarin speaking Chinese Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in a dynamic co-teaching partnership, with a specific focus on leading and delivering the Chinese language program, Units of Inquiry and other primary subjects in Mandarin. This role is central to our mission of bilingual education and inheriting Chinese culture. This is a rare opportunity for an innovative educator to build a bilingual inquiry-based program from its very inception. Priority will be given to candidate who has homeroom teacher experience and is able to use Mandarin to teach multiple subjects (i.e. Chinese, Maths, PYP transdisciplinary unit of inquiry).
Teaching and Learning:
Lead the delivery of the Chinese language program and teach Units of Inquiry through the medium of Mandarin.
Design engaging learning experiences that integrate Chinese culture in PYP curriculum.
Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies and personalized learning plans based on the age, needs, and learning traits of each student.
Utilize a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback to guide students in their learning journey
Collaboration and Curriculum Development:
Actively co-plan and teach PYP Units of Inquiry with English speaking internal staff.
Contribute to the development of the school's unique curriculum, creating innovative materials for interdisciplinary education.
Actively engage in collaborative planning, peer observation, and professional learning communities to continuously enhance teaching practice and professionalism.
Student Well-being and Community:
Foster the holistic development of each child, gaining a thorough understanding of their academic and personal progress.
Act as a key bridge for families, utilizing strong communication skills to build meaningful connections (bilingual fluency or a particular strength in liaising with Mandarin-speaking families is highly advantageous).
