St Swithun’s School, Winchester, is seeking to appoint a committed and flexible Management Accountant to play a key role in supporting the full range of finance activities across the school.
St Swithun’s is a leading GSA and HMC independent girls’ school, offering day and boarding education, with an adjoining IAPS prep school. The role
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the wider Bursary team, the Management Accountant will help deliver a high quality, professional finance service across:
the Senior and Prep Schools
the school’s letting company subsidiary
the Bramston Foundation charity

Key responsibilities include:
Preparation of monthly and termly management accounts
Month end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modelling
Monitoring fee income, bursaries and scholarships
Preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
VAT returns, compliance and VAT recovery reviews
Payroll oversight and support for payroll processing
Supporting budget holders and senior leaders with financial information and decision making
Identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes and controls
The successful candidate will have:
A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
Strong experience in management accounting and statutory accounts preparation
Sound knowledge of VAT and compliance in a regulated environment
Experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
