Red Balloon Aylesbury is a supportive and inclusive specialist school, dedicated to providing tailored education for students who need a nurturing and understanding environment. Our young people have had difficulty attending traditional schools, so we focus on helping them rebuild confidence and achieve their full academic potential.
Our cohort of learners are academically able and are studying a range of GCSEs in small groups of 4-6
As a learning support mentor, you will be working alongside our learning mentors to provide support to our young people.
Our learners come from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and with different needs - our workforce should also reflect that, so we can engage, encourage and inspire our learners to be themselves.
Our young people deserve the best possible future and we feel the same about our team.
You will need to be resilient and dedicated to help develop abilities, creativity and raise our young peoples' self esteem.
Role Overview: The Learning Support Mentor’s (LSM) main role is to provide 1:1 and group support as well as mentoring for learners at the Centre. Duties will also include supporting the learning sessions and delivering specific programmes and activities to assist the learners’ individual learning needs. The LSM will be responsible for implementing the targets on the learner’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) in liaison with teaching staff and the SENDCo.
Role Responsibilities:
· Develop a professional relationship with learners to ensure they are supported during their time with Red Balloon.
· Ensure learners are appropriately supervised at all times.
· Record progress through Red Balloon processes, systems and tracking tools to effectively monitor progress.
· Participate in outings and trips with the Red Balloon community.
· Communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure learners receive high-quality support and input to facilitate individual progression
