William Morris Sixth Form, situated in Hammersmith, was established as the country’s first 16–19 comprehensive school. We offer 850 students from West London and beyond an exciting range of academic and vocational courses from foundation learning through to advanced level. WMSF is an over-subscribed, vibrant, inner-city learning community that has the individual student at the heart of everything it does.
We are looking for a flexible, practical and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant with relevant experience and/or qualifications to join our Inclusion team on a full-time, term-time-only basis.
In this role, you will:
Acquire and draw upon the knowledge of differing types of special needs in order to develop an understanding of the specific needs of the learner
Take account of the special needs involved and aid each student to learn effectively
Establish a supportive relationship with each student in and out of class
Provide in-class support and develop strategies to encourage independence and help students to learn effectively
Support students in non-educational activities
Be the designated key worker for a caseload of students with education health care plans (EHCPs), which includes weekly meetings, completing paperwork to document all agreed outcomes and support needs using EduKey and other platforms, and communicating with families/guardians and professionals as required
Advise, support, and help teachers become more effective in meeting the learning needs of students with special educational and medical needs
