About this role
Emanuel School is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning and social needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified graduate who is considering a future career in teaching, speech and language therapy, or educational psychology, offering valuable hands-on experience within an inspiring educational environment.
Working under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff, you will support access to learning for pupils and provide general support in the management of pupils and the classroom. You will also assist and provide support for pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health Care Plans) and ISPs (Individual Support Plans), which may involve some intimate care. In addition to this, you will help deliver targeted support intervention programmes for small groups and provide occasional 1-to-1 support.
The role would suit a well-qualified graduate who is passionate about helping young people thrive and who is keen to develop their understanding of learning and development. Some understanding of special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous, including learning, behavioural, social and communication difficulties, along with a willingness to undertake further training. Some experience of working with children, young people, or pupils with additional needs would be desirable but is not essential.
