Learning Support Assistant

Role OverviewBellver College is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and reflective Learning Support Assistant to support the implementation of inclusive practices and individualized student support across the school. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing Student Support Team and to contribute meaningfully to the development of an inclusive SEN program being built from the ground up. Working under the guidance of the SENCO, the Learning Support Assistant will provide direct student support, assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or equivalent learning plans, and collaborate closely with teachers to ensure students with diverse learning profiles are supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The SEN Assistant plays a vital, hands-on role in translating inclusive values into daily classroom practice and supporting a culture of belonging across Bellver College. Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Support & InclusionProvide in-class and small-group support for students with identified learning needs, as directed by the SENCO. Support students in developing academic, organizational, social, emotional, and self-regulation skills. Implement accommodations, modifications, and strategies outlined in IEPs, ILPs, or support plans. Foster student independence, confidence, and self-advocacy rather than reliance on adult support. Classroom & Learning SupportWork collaboratively with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive learning environments. Assist in adapting materials, tasks, and assessments to meet diverse learner needs. Support the use of assistive technology and inclusive learning tools as appropriate. Observe and document student progress, engagement, and areas of need, sharing insights with the SENCO and teaching staff.
