About this role
Situated close to the centre of Cambridge and on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Long Road is a popular and successful Sixth Form College with over 2,600 16–19-year-old full-time students. We are measured as Ofsted outstanding for High Needs. Our core objective is to inspire, motivate and support our students in becoming the best that they can be to fulfil their progression aspirations.
We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work with students aged 16–19 who have additional and special educational needs, many of whom have EHCPs. You will be supporting these students in lessons, scaffolding learning and working in participation with the subject teacher, and individually through one-to-one or small-group study support sessions. You will also support at social times with clubs and supervise the three Academic Support rooms.
The ideal person will have experience of supporting SEND at primary or secondary school or in further education/Sixth Form or be keen to develop their knowledge and work in the area of SEND, teaching and learning or other aspects of work within education.
This is a great opportunity for a person keen to gain experience of working with students within a Sixth Form College environment. This is a term-time-only role, working 37 hours per week, and is fixed term until 31st August 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is looking to start their career in education, or possibly someone who has recently graduated from university or is taking a gap year or an educational professional looking to move into the field of further education.
