This is a role for someone who will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support so students with Special Educational Needs can access lessons, make progress and develop independence. You will implement EHCP strategies, run focused literacy and numeracy support, and work with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning materials and track impact. This post suits a practical, organised team member who communicates clearly with students and staff and wants to work in a large, well-resourced secondary school.
What you'll be doing
Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions tied to EHCPs and personalised learning plans
Support students in mainstream lessons, adapting resources and reinforcing teacher-led instruction
Run targeted literacy, numeracy and social skills sessions and monitor pupil progress
Implement behaviour-support techniques and contribute to positive, inclusive classroom environments
Record and track the impact of interventions and contribute to HCP/EHCP reviews
Liaise with teachers, the SENCO, parents and external professionals as needed
Attend staff meetings, training and INSET; undertake First Aid training and support the school's First Aid rota
Carry out other reasonable duties within the remit of the role, including occasional out-of-hours work
What we're looking for
Essential
Experience of supporting pupils in a school or similar educational setting
Good standard of education and strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to apply behaviour-management techniques and adapt approaches for different needs
Comfortable working in a team and following guidance from teachers and the SENCO
Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and equality of opportunity
Willingness to undertake First Aid training and other statutory training

Specific experience delivering literacy or numeracy interventions
