Learning Support Assistant

The Royal Liberty School where “Staff know their pupils very well, and as a result, pupils are happy and safe. Pupils are polite, respectful and mature and value diversity and equality.” (OFSTED February 2024). We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant that is required for a September start. The work will involve supporting students in either a small Nurture Group or in our mainstream, providing in class support and delivering interventions. We are seeking someone who is highly motivated, flexible and organised who enjoys working with young people. Someone with experience of working with students with a high degree of SEND need, especially cognition and learning and speech and language needs. Main purpose of the job The Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant is a member of a team of practitioners responsible for the education and care of the children in the school. S/he is involved in contributing to the teaching and learning programme in accordance with the ethos, aims and objectives of The Royal Liberty School. The Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant supports the school in raising student aspirations, challenging student learning and engaging students in their own learning. The Teacher and the Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant work as a team - being ‘partners’ in supporting the students’ access to learning and the whole curriculum and their independence as learners. The Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant works under the direction and control of the Headteacher, SENDCo and the relevant Head of Faculty/class teacher. At Grade 1 they would usually be supervised, where necessary, at task level in the presence of a teacher. The Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant will act as a link between an allocated Faculty and the SEN department to ensure all staff are communicating effectively The Grade 1 Learning Support Assistant will support the development of any school within the Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and may be required to support the development of SEND
