Lead SENCO – Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) About EducateU: Educate U is a specialist school providing high quality education for children and young people aged 5 -16 with a wide range of complex needs including social, emotional and mental health needs. Educate U has the mission statement “Empowering Students. Creating Possibilities” and this is because our school fills a need for inclusive education for children with complex trauma and special educational needs. These needs include children diagnosed with ASC, ADHD or who have high anxiety and attachment and trauma barriers to learning. All our students have an EHCP. Many of our children have been out of education for a substantial period – some for up to two years before joining us. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as Lead SENCO. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with no previous experience who is eager to develop their skills in special educational needs coordination. As Lead SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs by working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure tailored support plans are effectively implemented. Skills and Qualifications: - No prior experience required; training will be provided - Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively - Organised approach with good attention to detail - Empathy and understanding towards children’s diverse needs - Willingness to learn about SEND legislation, strategies, and best practices - Ability to manage time effectively across multiple responsibilities Values and Attitudes: - Commitment to inclusion and equality for all students - Patience, resilience, and adaptability when facing challenges - Positive attitude towards continuous professional development - Respectful of confidentiality at all times - Enthusiasm for making a meaningful difference in children’s lives If
