About this role

We are looking to appoint a lead Junior Coach J14/15 (Years 9 & 10) to join our existing team, from September 2026. This is a permanent role, working all year round, with structured on water hours, with additional flexible hours, to be utilised during the week and/or at events. The Lead Junior Coach is the operational anchor and technical foundation for our Year 9 and Year 10 (J14/15) rowing programs, spanning both boys and girls. Working in partnership with and under the guidance of section heads, you will be responsible for taking our youngest rowers from their initial introduction to the sport through to their first major national competitions. While your primary focus will be active coaching and fostering a fun, ambitious environment on the water, you will also play a key role in squad administration, parent communication, and event transport. You are the vital bridge that ensures our junior athletes develop sound technical habits, strong teamwork, and a lifelong love for the sport - taking pupils from complete beginners all the way to national medal-winning standard. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and communicative coach who takes genuine pride in setting young athletes up for long-term success. Great Communicator: You possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire 13- to 15-year-olds while maintaining clear, professional channels with parents and senior staff. Organised & Reliable: You appreciate that great coaching relies on seamless organisation - from well-planned sessions to timely event transport. Adaptable & Collaborative: You thrive working within a structured coaching team, working in partnership with section heads and taking full ownership of the junior squad's activities.
